Understanding Tags in Formfactories
Tags are customizable labels used to organize projects and models. They can be applied at the project or model level and may include additional functionality, such as counters for tracking progress. Tags are a versatile tool for streamlining workflows and enhancing organization within Formfactories.
Project-Level Tags
At the project level, tags work much like labels in other apps. They help categorize and prioritize tasks, making it easier to manage large-scale operations.
Basic Tagging
You can create any custom tag you'd like — for example:
- Grade A
- Grade B
- Needs Review
These tags are clearly visible on each project, allowing users to quickly scan dashboards and understand the status or classification of each job.
Filtering by Tag
The Tags filter enables users to focus on specific projects by narrowing their view to those matching selected tags. This feature is particularly useful for quickly finding certaint types of projects or models.
Grouping by Tag in Dashboards
Beyond filtering, you can group projects with the same tags together. This is done by using the More button in the filters row (the second row, and the smaller of the two more buttons) and choosing Group By: Tags. Now you can see all of your various projects grouped together by their tags.
Note
If a project has multiple tags, it will appear in each group corresponding to its tags.
Model-Level Tags
In addition to project-level tags, Formfactories supports model-level tags for more detailed tracking. These tags offer the same flexibility as project tags but with an added layer of functionality: counters.
Tagging Models
Model tags are customizable and can be used for various purposes, such as:
- Requires QC
- High Priority
- Install Inserts
Adding Counters
When tagging a model, users can optionally enable a quantity-based counter. This is especially helpful for tracking progress across parts.
Example:
If you need to produce three copies of a part and install inserts in each, you can tag the model as "Install Inserts" and enable a quantity counter to track progress.
This feature provides a progress tracker near production counts, allowing users to monitor not only how many parts have been printed/counted, but also how many have had inserts installed.
