Client Help Bubble

The client help bubble feature is a floating help bubble that appears on the project page for clients. It's a powerful, customizable help panel that never pulls the user away from their project.

Common Usage

The client help bubble is designed to assist users in real time while they are building a project. It’s especially useful for:

  • Offering material and technology selection tips
  • Guiding clients through custom requirements or unique workflows
  • Linking to helpful resources

How It Works

  • The help bubble floats in the lower left corner of the project.
  • Clicking the bubble opens a panel that can contain multiple articles, categories, or custom content.
  • Content is read-only and never disrupts or hides the active project view.

Customization

You can fully customize the content of Client Project Help using workspacesA space that combines structured task management with freeform collaboration. A workspace can be a standalone feature, but they are also included within each project.. You can create multiple categories, organize articles, and update them over time — all without writing code.

Material Guide

The Material Guide is optionally shown in the client help bubble. Once you are ready to display it, you can do so via Settings > General > Client Project Help

The material guide pulls relevant information from your Materials & Capabilities to help customers understand your offerings and make informed decisions when submitting projects. It consolidates material options, visual comparisons, sorting filters, and educational content. Because it's part of the client help bubble, they never need to navigate away from the submission page.

This section explains how to set it up, what it looks like, and how to get the most value from it.

What the Client Sees

When enabled, clients can access your material guide directly from a Client Help BubbleA floating help bubble available to clients while they build a project. It can include a material guide tied to your materials and capabilities, or it can be fully customized using workspaces. Guides allow clients to access helpful information without leaving the project page. or during material selection. The guide displays:

  • Material Names & Technologies (e.g. PLA / FDM, Standard / SLA)
  • Use Cases (e.g. “Great for Display,” “Best for Bulk Orders”)
  • Sort & Filter Options based on:
    • Technology
    • Use Case
    • Performance priorities like “Best Price,” “Heat Resistance,” etc.
  • Stat Bars that compare performance traits such as:
    • Economical
    • Turnaround Speed
    • Flexibility
    • Strength
    • Heat Resistance
  • Images to give clients visual context for each material

All of this is aimed at helping clients answer the key question: Which material is best for what I need?

How to Configure It (Admin View)

To customize what clients see in the guide:

  1. Go to Settings > Materials & Capabilities
  2. Choose a Technology (e.g. FDM, SLA)
  3. Click the Gear Icon next to a material
  4. Scroll to Advanced Settings

From there, you’ll find a range of editable options:

Content Fields

  • Long Description: A detailed overview of the material's use cases and advantages
  • Description Addon: Optional extra info that displays under certain filters
  • Material Page URL: (Optional) A link to a standalone version of the guide

Alternate Names

Use this to include aliases (e.g. “Prototyping PLA” or supplier-specific SKUs) so external part syncing works smoothly.

Stat Bars

Assign numerical values (typically 1–5 or 1–10) to each performance trait:

  • Economical
  • Turnaround Speed
  • Flexibility
  • Strength
  • Heat Resistance

These values will render as horizontal bar graphs in the client view, enabling side-by-side comparison.

Selling Points & Use Cases

Tag each material with:

  • Selling Points (e.g. Great for Display, Smooth Finish, High Detail)
  • Use Cases (e.g. Design Review, Prototyping, End-use)

This unlocks the sort/filter dropdowns in the client interface.

Datasheet, Videos & Images

You can:

  • Upload spec sheets for reference
  • Embed YouTube videos or tutorials
  • Add gallery images for each material

These assets build client trust and reduce the number of repetitive questions.

Best Practices

  • Be honest and relative: Stat bars should reflect real trade-offs, not just give everything a 5.
  • Use visuals: Show side-by-side prints if possible to demonstrate finish, resolution, or flexibility.
  • Include plain-language descriptions: Avoid technical jargon unless it’s helpful to the client.
  • Think about buyers and engineers: Some users want speed, others want strength — your guide should speak to both.
